Who are the panellists of Museology and Values
Today we are glad to introduce you some of the other guests who will contribute with their experience to the international symposium Museology and Values, Art and Human Dignity in the 21st century.
During the two days of the symposium - 28-29 September -, thanks to the moderation of some internationally relevant guests, Italian and international directors, curators, architects, professors and museum professionists will discuss, from a museological and museographical point of view, the best practices and possible difficulties emerged from the previous speeches of the keynote speakers.
Let's start introducing James Bradburne, Director of the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan, the first moderator who will accompany the keynote speakers in the narration of their own challenges and experiences, and then let’s continue presenting you the protagonists of the first panel of discussion.
James Bradburne, anglo-Canadian architect, designer and museologist, has designed world expo pavilions, science parks and international art exhibitions. From 2006 until March 2015 was the Director General of the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi. Since October 2015 is Director General of the Pinacoteca di Brera and the Biblioteca Braidense in Milan.
Cristina Acidini was born in Florence and is an art historian. She worked at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage from 1981 to 2014. She directed the Opificio delle Pietre Dure and was Superintendent of the Florentine Museum Pole and Responsible for the protection of the historical and artistic heritage of Florence. Since 2015 she has been President of the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno in Florence, founded by Giorgio Vasari in 1563.
Mounia Chekhab Abudayam is the Curator for North Africa and Iberia at the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha, Qatar. She completed her Ph.D. in History of Art and Islamic Archeology at the Pantheon Sorbonne University in Paris and is specialized on the Western Mediterranean manuscripts and pilgrimage-related devotional materials in the Islamic world.
Christian Greco has been Director of the Museo Egizio since 2014. He directed the re-functionalization project, the renewal of the exhibition and the exhibition itinerary, completed on March 31st 2015, which led to the transformation of the Museo Egizio, from the antiquarian museum to the archaeological museum. During his direction of the Museo Egizio he has developed important international collaborations with museums, universities and research institutes all over the world.
Cecilie Hollberg was born in Germany. She did her university studies in History, Literature, Political Science, Italian and German Language and Literature at the universities of Rome, München, Göttingen, obtaining various scholarships. From 2010 to 2015 she was Director of the Städtisches Museum Braunschweig, while from the 1st of December 2015 she has become Director of the Galleria dell’ Accademia in Florence.
Ulrike Lorenz became the seventh director of the Kunsthalle Mannheim in 2009. She managed not only the Art Noveau building’s general refurbishment between 2010 and 2013 but also initiated the development of a state-of-the-art new museum building. These initiatives are part of Ms. Lorenz as overall aim to pave ways for the museum’s future in the 21st century which includes among other things the innovative digital strategy.
Paola Marini since December 2015 she is Director of the Gallerie dell’Accademia of Venezia. She has promoted and implemented hundreds of restorations, dozens of exhibitions at international level, conferences and cultural projects. Her studies range from the history of architecture and treatises to the history of art from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century, without renouncing some incursion in the nineteenth century and in the contemporary field.
