- Ritratto postumo di Emilio De Fabris
Oil painting on canvas, depicting Emilio de Fabris (1807-1883), architect responsible for the construction of the new Cathedral facade, by the artist Egisto Sarri. The Museo dell'Opera del Duomo obtained this work by purchase form the widow of the artist's son, Corrado Sarri, in 1902.
The portrait of the architect is posthumous: it was commissioned by the Opera itself and painted on the basis of a photo of De Fabris (still preserved in the archives of the Opera).
The portrait, inscribed in an oval, depicts the architect half-length on a black background, with a black jacket and white shirt; his face slightly turned, with white hair and mustache. Sarri also painted another portrait of Emilio De Fabris, now held by the Uffizi Gallery.
