- Due pannelli ricamati raffiguranti Cristo risorto che appare a un apostolo e a Maria
Two embroidered panels depicting the Risen Christ appearing to an apostle and to Mary in colored silks and gold foil, realized to a project - in the last quarter of the 16th century - attributed to Giovanni Balducci, nicknamed “Cosci”, Archbishop Marzi Medici’s favorite artist, and the author of several paintings and sculptures for the Cathedral. The two embroidered panels, now sewn together and exhibited in a single frame, were probably created to enrich a liturgical vestment with themes related to the Resurrection of Christ. The embroideries represent Christ appearing to the Madonna and an apostle, possibly Peter, after the Resurrection. A technique similar to the "punto serrato", using tiny, dense stitches, created an incredible level of detail and shading of different colors.
