An evening at the Opera Duomo Museum
Il Grande Museo del Duomo, the Museum of the Florence Cathedral, is usually opened between 9AM and 7PM. The evening opening is available on Monday, Friday and Saturday.
Have you already been to the new Opera Duomo Museum?
Piazza del Duomo in Florence, the site of the Cathedral, is a very special singularity: the monuments (the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Brunelleschi's Dome, the Giotto's Bell Tower, the Baptistry of San Giovanni, the Crypt of Santa Reparata) are a whole, with a historical and architectural continuity.
A continuity that the massive overhaul of the museum has even more increased.
A continuity that is now even more easy to experience. Now also under the special light of a Florentine evening.
If you are planning your first visit to Il Grande Museo del Duomo - or your next one - you are in the right place: our blog provides you with the stories of a more than seven hundred years old heritage.
The site gives you all the information you need to enjoy your visit at its best.
You can check the monuments’ timetable to avoid queues, and you can buy your tickets online. And, yes: you can visit Il Grande Museo del Duomo by night…
Il Grande Museo del Duomo, the Museum of the Florence Cathedral, is usually opened between 9AM and 7PM.
The evening opening is available on Monday, Friday and Saturday.
From November to April the Monday, Friday and Saturday opening time is 9AM - 9PM.
From May to October the Monday, Friday and Saturday opening time is 9AM - 10PM.
Mind that only the museum has the extended opening time - not the monuments.
Nevertheless the Museum opening extension gives you the opportunity to plan your visit even better: with up to thirteen hours to spend with Ghiberti, Donatello, Michelangelo and the masterpieces of many more artists, you will have all the time you need to learn everything about Florence in the Middle Ages and in the Renaissance and about the artists that shaped hundreds of years of the european civilization.
Moreover, even if the monuments are not open, the sunset and night light are perfect to take amazing photos: by the way if you are going to share them, remember to “tag” us! ;-)
