Brunelleschi's Dome: All the New Entry Rules from March 1, 2025
Brunelleschi's Dome access changes in 2025: named entry and the Brunelleschi Pass. The things to know before visiting the Dome.
Buy your Brunelleschi Pass here!
Starting March 1, 2025, some new rules will come into effect for accessing the monumental complex of Piazza Duomo in Florence, particularly regarding access to the Dome with the Brunelleschi Pass. Below you will find a list of things to know before visiting us to best prepare for your visit.
Brunelleschi Pass
- Brunelleschi Pass is the ticket that allows you to visit all the monuments of Piazza Duomo in Florence: Dome, Bell Tower, Opera Duomo Museum, Baptistery and Santa Reparata. The Pass is valid for three calendar days - with one entry for each monument - from the day of the booked visit at the time of purchase. It is mandatory to book a time-slot for climbing Brunelleschi's Dome, which cannot be modified or canceled once issued. For all other monuments included in the Pass, no reservation is required: they can be visited within the three days of validity of the ticket, following their opening hours, even before the booked entry time for the Dome.
- Brunelleschi Pass is a nominative ticket: when purchasing online, the Name and Surname (and Nationality) of the visitor(s) who will climb the Dome on the day and time of the booked visit are mandatory. Once issued, the names can no longer be changed.
- From March 1, 2025, access to Brunelleschi's Dome will be through a check - carried out by the Opera's staff - on the names on the ticket, in order to guarantee the best visiting experience for everyone.
- The access to visit Brunelleschi's Dome is the 'Porta della Mandorla' (North side of the Cathedral); just show up in line 10-15 minutes before the start of the booked time slot. A maximum delay of 5 minutes is allowed compared to the booked start time shown on the ticket.
- There is not, nor will there be, a 'skip the line' service, precisely because booking the climb time-slot is already a service aimed at avoiding queues, as it is linked to a specific climb time for the Dome.
- The duration of the visit to the Dome is about 45 minutes from the start of the visit.
- The rates for the Brunelleschi Pass are: Full €30 (over 15 years); Reduced €12 (7-14 years); Free (0-6 years and other categories that can be consulted here).
- It is forbidden to climb the Dome with medium and large sized luggage, backpacks and bags. To allow a better and more agile visiting experience, given the characteristics of the monument, the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore has made a free cloakroom service available, at the Luggage Storage in Piazza Duomo 38/r, where visitors must leave their luggage before starting the visit. Here you can consult the regulation.
- The climb to the top of the Dome consists of 463 steps and there is no elevator. It is strongly discouraged to visit for people suffering from heart conditions, vertigo, claustrophobia and pregnant women.
- The Brunelleschi Pass, together with the two guided tours available on the official web shop of the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore, is the ticket that allows you to visit the Dome. There are no single tickets for the Dome.
- People with disabilities and their companions are allowed to get a free ticket, subject to evaluations and upon verification of appropriate documentation. For any information, write to: accessibilita@duomo.firenze.it.
- If you need to visit the Dome and purchase Brunelleschi Pass for a group school visit, with quantities greater than 10 units, you must first fill out this online form: https://bit.ly/FormScuole. You will be contacted by email by the Opera's dedicated office to find the best solution.
