EmptyMuseum in Florence
At Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, #emptyDuomoFI: the first #empty event for an Italian museum. #emptyDuomoFI will take place next February 19th and 20th.
The beauty of a museum exists not only during the opening hours, but while the museum is closed as well! We want to let the audience experience the charm and excitement of the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo and its artworks even while the museum is closed.
Next February 19th and 20th the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore organizes in its museum, the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo di Firenze, the #empty event #emptyDuomoFI. #emptyDuomoFI is the first #empty event in Italy to host the founder of the #empty movement, along with other Italian and international photographers such as: Cris Jimenez, Michael Grimaz, Michael Koller, Umit Savas, Laura Masi, Nicola Carmignani, Anwar Bobby, Emilio Chulia and Inna Shnayder.
The #empty movement
The #empty international movement is a project conceived by the US Instagramer Dave Krugman. In 2013 Krugman managed to be given permission by the New York Metropolitan Museum to enter the building after closing time.
In no time the success of #emptyMET spreads across the Instagram network and it gets the attention of some of the most important Instagramers worldwide. In 2014 the #empty movement has visited the Royal Opera House in London, the Guggenheim Museum, the Louvre museum, the Bolshoi theater, the Tate Gallery, the Prada Foundation and the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire.
#empty in Florence
Along with the #empty event the Florentine instagramers will launch #INandOUT Firenze, to bring the Instagram audience Florence and its narrative, choosing the Duomo as the “main character”, capturing it and its nooks and crannies in macro - mode. The audience will experience the events following the #emptyDuomoFi and #museduomofi, on the Facebook and Twitter profiles of the Museum and of the attendees profiles as well and on Radio Firenze.
The Conference
On February 20th The “Centro Arte e Cultura” will host the In & Out Conference: "The Museums and the New Media", about the impact of the new media in museum communication. Round tables will be organized with the international guests of the event. The event (Centro Arte e Cultura, Piazza Duomo, Florence, 11AM - 1PM) - a must for the professionals of the field and the arts lovers as well - is free, but booking is needed
