Voci di Donne
The monuments of the Cathedral of Florence told by women
How many female figures do we find depicted in the monumental complex of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence? How many sculptures, paintings, architecture were dedicated to, belonged to or were commissioned by a woman? How many works have been created by a woman? How many actually talk to women?
In Voci di Donne, an anthology series in 8 episodes in italian language, the protagonists of the history and art of the monuments of Piazza del Duomo give voice and tell about themselves and their times through the works that depict them; they are biblical and historical characters, from the remote past, from the Middle Ages to the nineteenth century, passing through the Renaissance, who in turn express the different ways of being a woman and of embodying feminine models: we will meet the bride, the sinner, the saint, the heroine, the mother, the worker, the widow, the artist, the seer.
Each story - between history and imagination - is a bridge between the past and the present, a stimulus to knowledge and education on the central theme of the role of women in our society. The first episode of the series will be released on International Women's Day, Friday 8 March, and every Friday thereafter.
