International Museum Day is celebrated on May 18, 2024, organized by ICOM (International Council of Museums). It is a day of reflection to remember and make society aware of the importance of the role of museums. This year's theme concerns education and research and it is no coincidence that the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, renovated in 2015, boasts a cutting-edge educational setup, which in addition to the conservation of the works has as its objective that of education of the visitor, leading him to understand the historical and cultural context in which the exhibited works were created.
Every year, in conjunction with International Museum Day, the European Night of Museums is celebrated, where the public is welcomed free of charge during the night. The Museo dell'Opera del Duomo joins the initiative this year with a free opening from 7.00pm, with last entry at 11.00pm, and closure at midnight.
N.B. No tickets or reservations will be required to access during the night time-slot (7.00pm - 11.00pm).
