CONtact

CONtatto is a project aimed at people with psychopathological or medical disorders that cause cognitive, emotional, physical or social discomfort as well as the people who take care of them.

This program is part of the LIGET Program*, by Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore.

The main objective is promoting empathy, authenticity and unconditional acceptance of each other, by promoting the identification and evaluation of individual resources.

Different activities are planned depending on the specific target audience. In particular: observation and free interpretation of the works of art, theme-based reflections, promotion of personal expression and sharing of emotions are aimed at people with psychopathological or medical disorders.

For caregivers (family members) we have developed self-help activities in which the work of art becomes a stimulus to trigger the building of an interpretation context aimed at exploring the world of emotions and experiences at a deeper level, to be able to externalise one's own thoughts and difficulties, creating an opportunity for interchange and support in the relationship and in sharing with others.

The name of the project has a double meaning, that of coming into contact with the deepest dimensions of being and at the same time of treading lightly paying attention to human frailty.

*Liget Program: A series of projects designed for people with neurocognitive or neurodevelopmental disorders, people suffering from cognitive, behavioural and/or social discomfort, their family members and caregivers (e.g. animators with geriatrics qualifications, professional educators and so on).
