Guided tour of Restoration site of the Baptistery
This guided tour will take you back in time to the origins of Florence
The Baptistery is a symbol of the city and masterpiece of Romanesque architecture with its dome entirely covered with Byzantine mosaics, currently under restoration.
The Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore gives you the unique opportunity to admire the mosaics of the vault up close. For their restoration, a spectacular restoration site has been set up with a dedicated visitor route that allows visitors to enjoy exceptionally close-up views of the splendid mosaics. As the work progresses, in 2026 the tour route will be expanded. It will be possible to access an area previously inaccessible by walking the entire first floor of the restoration site.
This new opportunity will allow visitors to observe the evolution of this extraordinary restoration project even more closely, following its various phases firsthand and observing the progress of the work from a privileged perspective.
